The copper mould tube is a very important part, which plays the role of molten steel condensing and forming. Its quality directly affects the quality of the blank, and also has a great impact on its own life. Therefore, the quality of the copper mould tube is guaranteed, the service life is increased, and the working quality and efficiency of the continuous casting machine are improved.

Many manufacturers are working hard to explore improving their service life.

1. From the single cone to the multi-cone design of the inner wall of the copper mould tube, and then to the parabolic surface.

2.  From the perspective of copper mould tube raw materials, from pure copper, TP2 to Cu-Ag and Cr-Zi-Cu. Promote thermal conductivity, improve resistance to deformation and life.

However, the traditional process of hard chromium plating is still used in the plating of the inner wall of the copper tube. The chromium plating layer has high hardness and good wear resistance, but the plating layer is thin and has fine cracks. Moreover, the thermal expansion coefficients of chromium and copper are quite different, and more lateral cracks will appear when used at high temperatures.

How to solve this problem, in order to improve the wear resistance of the chrome plating layer and prolong the service life of the copper mould tube, a Ni-Co alloy plating layer is added to the chrome plating layer and the crystal copper tube surface as a transition layer. Therefore, it is called Ni-Coalloy-hard chrome coating, because the Ni-Co alloy coating has good corrosion, heat erosion and wear resistance. It acts as a bonding agent between the inner surface of the copper mould tube and the chrome-plated layer, which greatly improves the wear resistance of the chrome-plated layer. In addition, after the chrome plating layer is worn out, the Ni-Cot alloy plating layer can continue to work as the chrome plating layer, prolonging the life of the copper mould tube.
