The pressure ring presses the copper shoes to grip the electrode tightly, ensuring current passes uniformly through the copper shoes into the electrode and then into the furnace.

The pressure ring consists of two semi-circular rings. Its internal water cooling circuit is highly complex. Cooling water first enters the lower chamber, circulates upward through the narrow outer cooling channel, then flows into the inner ring channel (which is relatively wider), and finally exits.
