Copper Sleeve (Copper Contact Shoe) for Electric Arc Furnaces

The copper sleeve is a critical component of electric arc furnaces. During operation, it is pressed tightly onto the electrode shell by a pressure ring. Its primary function is to transmit secondary current to the electrode and feed it into the furnace while ensuring proper electrode baking.


Working Conditions

The copper sleeve operates under extremely harsh conditions, enduring high temperatures, hot furnace gases, and heavy dust. When furnace conditions are abnormal (e.g., flame spouting), the environment becomes even more severe, leading to premature wear and damage.

Another challenge is that the contact between the copper sleeve and the electrode is not fixed—it must be adjusted periodically as the electrode burns down, further worsening its working conditions.
