Mold copper tube is the casting billet forming equipment in the continuous casting machine, and it is one of the core equipment of the continuous casting machine. Its function is to forcibly cool the molten steel continuously injected into its inner cavity through the water-cooled copper wall to remove the heat of the molten steel and gradually solidify it into a cast slab with the required cross-sectional shape and a certain thickness of the shell. The casting billet whose core is still in the liquid phase is continuously drawn from the lower mouth of the mold, creating conditions for it to be completely solidified in the subsequent secondary cooling zone.

During the solidification process when molten steel is injected into the mold to gradually form a billet shell of a certain thickness, the mold has been under the influence of many factors such as the static pressure of the molten steel, the friction force, the heat transfer of the molten steel, etc., so that the mold is under mechanical stress and thermal stress. Under the combined effect of stress, the working conditions are extremely harsh. Under such harsh conditions, the mold copper tube works for a long time, and its use is directly related to the performance of the continuous caster, and is closely related to the quality and output of the cast slab. Therefore, in addition to standardizing the production operation, selecting the appropriate mold powder and avoiding mechanical damage, a reasonable design is the basis for ensuring the quality of the cast slab, reducing the leakage rate, and improving its service life.
