Design principles and main features of the copper mould tube

1. Design principles

The shape of the inner cavity of the copper mould tube of the high-efficiency billet continuous caster is designed according to the solidification characteristics of the continuous cast billet. Two aspects are mainly considered:

1) one is near the meniscus, due to the high heat flux density and heat concentration, the thermal deformation of the copper mould tube.

2) The second is the shrinkage of the cast slab during solidification. The design principle is that the shape of the inner cavity of the copper mould tube is consistent with the shrinkage law of the solidified blank shell to reduce the thermal resistance of the air gap.

2 The main characteristics of the material

The material requirements are good thermal conductivity, high recrystallization temperature, thermal fatigue resistance, high strength, good wear resistance and long service life. The main feature is the best overall performance of the above-mentioned properties of the copper tube material.
